The World Beer Cup being held in San Diego this year is fast approaching. We will be sending our beers off in a couple of weeks. Wish us luck. Like always we have high hopes to bring home a medal. All the brewers for Oggi’s are working very hard to do so. We are entering a few new beers this year including a Rye IPA brewed at Carmel Mountain Ranch Oggi’s, a Robust Porter and English IPA brewed at Mission Valley Oggi’s and a Black IPA brewed at the Central Brewing facility in San Clemente. Let’s bring home those medals. Cheers!
Beer drinkers rejoice: Your favorite brew may be healthier than you think.
For years, wine drinkers have indulged without guilt, reveling in the news that red wine can help protect against heart disease. Recent research shows that beer can also be good for what ails you, from reducing risk for broken bones to helping warding off diabetes and mental decline. It can even increase longevity, a large study suggests.
However, the key to tapping into beer’s benefits is moderation, meaning just one 12-ounce beer per day for women and two for men. Heavy drinking ups the threat of liver damage, some cancers, and heart problems. Bingeing on brewskis can also make you fat, since a 12-ounce regular beer has about 150 calories, while light beer has about 100.
Here are 10 surprising—and healthy—reasons to cheer about your next beer. Read More…
It is final. After a very successful Winter seasonal of the Oggi’s Double IPA, we have decided to make it a full time beer relplacing the Oggi’s Light Lager. This will go into affect June of 2012. For those of you that haven’t had this beer, it is fantastic. It has everything you want in a Double IPA. It has a great hop aroma, it has nice hop bitterness, it it is pretty balanced for the style. It’s not as malty as other Double IPA’s. This will be a great addition to our line up. Cheers!
Anyone have some name ideas? Please respond.
Will it be the Oggi’s Double IPA or the Oggi’s Red IPA to become the next full time beer? This is a decision that needs to be made and I would love to hear from you. Which ever is chosen will replace the Oggi’s Light in June of 2012. Please respond with your votes. A few notes on the beers to help. The Oggi’s Red IPA was released in Spring of 2011 and the Double IPA was released in Fall 2011. Cheers!

Clean beer lines is more important than most restaurants and bars want to believe. Having a regular cleaning process anywhere from once a week to twice a week depending on how busy the establishment is, is very important. Most places get their lines clean on a regular basis, though one thing they miss on that can cause major issues with beer quality, is the cleaning of the keg tap. When a bar or restaurant is busy on a friday night and a keg goes empty, someone gets in the cold box and changes it out as fast as possible. One thing they forget to do is clean the tap for the keg expecially if it is going to a different style of beer. This can make a big difference in quality. The places that do this are at a huge advantage. Cheers!
In honor of National Drink Beer Day, the Oggi’s Brewers are heading to Denver for the Great American Beer Festival. While the event officially begins tomorrow they will be enjoying a verity of different styles of beers today at the Brewers Reception.

The 20th Anniversary IPA will be coming to a close in the next month or so. I know I love this beer. Hopefully everyone else is enjoying it as well. Our goal for this beer was to keep it a session beer while still preserving the great Hop Aroma and flavor.
The next seasonal on the calender is the Oggi’s Double IPA. Still no name for this beer so if anyone has any good ideas please throw them this way. We are looking at a November release in all Oggi’s Restaurants. Keep a look out for it as it should be pleasing. Cheers!
